đ Ever felt like you were sinking into self-doubt mid-run?
When your legs are ready â but your thoughts say âNope.â
Zipylyna did â and it got messy.
But Zipyly had a simple mindset tool that pulled her out of the mental quicksand.
(And no, it wasnât magic. Just brain science with a red hat.)
It all started with confidence.
Zipylyna stood at the edge of the park trail, rainbow hair bouncing, headband tight.
âTodayâs the day I crush that 10K,â she whispered. âIâm basically a sports documentary waiting to happen.â
Two minutes later, her inner narrator had changed its tone:
âWhy do my legs feel like pudding?â
âWhy is that guy in sandals faster than me?â
âI canât do this. I knew I shouldnât have tried.â
And then â splat.
She wasnât on the path anymore. She was knee-deep in The Swamp of Self-Doubt.
A dark, gooey mental mess filled with thought-bubbles like:
- âIâm not good enough.â
- âThis was a dumb idea.â
- âEveryoneâs better than me anyway.â
Zipylyna froze. Her confidence evaporated like sweat on asphalt.
She looked down. The more she thought, the deeper she sank.
Classic case of Overthinking Quicksand.
Just then, something rustled behind a bush.
Out stepped Zipyly, cool as always â red cap, yellow gloves, nerdy brilliance in his eyes.
âAh,â he said, with a knowing nod. âYouâre stuck in the Swamp again.â
He reached out with a sturdy branch.
On it was carved the phrase:
âYouâve done hard things before.â
Zipylyna blinked. âYeah, but what if I fail this time?â
Zipyly crouched beside her. âYouâre not failing. Youâre thinking. Thatâs different. Let me show you something.â
đĄ Zipylyâs Tool: The Reality Reframe
Step 1: Catch the voice.
When you hear the inner critic say âI canât do thisâ, pause and label it.
Zipyly calls it âBog Talk.â
Step 2: Ask, âIs it true?â
Have you done anything similar before? Even just showing up today counts.
Step 3: Talk to yourself like a coach, not a bully.
Try this:
đŻď¸ âThis is tough, but Iâve faced worse.â
đŻď¸ âFeeling unsure doesnât mean Iâm failing.â
đŻď¸ âWhat would I tell a friend right now?â
Zipylyna grabbed the branch. âOkay. So⌠Iâm not a failure. Iâm just in a moment.â
âExactly,â said Zipyly. âAnd the trailâs still waiting.â
â Takeaway:
Self-doubt doesnât mean stop.
It means slow down, breathe, shift perspective.
And sometimes, it just means⌠reach for the right branch.
